Chef – Cantonese cuisine – NOC 62200
Task description:
• Trained cooks and other workers in food preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation: 10%
• Kitchen workers trained in culinary techniques: 10%
• Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, 10%
• Inspect freezers and refrigerators before each shift to check temperature levels and verify proper operation 10%
• Supervised preparation of specialty items and customer requests to verify production accuracy: 10%
• Prepare and cook full meals, 10%
• Prepare and cook individual dishes and foods, 10%
• Plan menus, 10%
• Ensure food quality and determine the size of food proportions, 10%
• Prepare meals for customers with food allergies or intolerances, 2%
• Implementation of schedules and surface and equipment standards to maintain the kitchen clean, neat, and sanitized, inspect and clean the kitchen and work areas; 4%
• Checked stock deliveries for safety, quality and quantity, estimated food requirements and costs; 4%
Terms:
Salary: $15/hr
Overtime: $22.50 per overtime hour, increased by 50% of the hourly wage.
Day and evening positions, 40h/week, permanent
Working days: Wednesday - Sunday
12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Benefits: public holidays and other benefits as required by law
Languages: French or English or Cantonese is an asset.
Cantonese is the language of the kitchen and can be accepted instead (not required).
Holidays: 10 days, 4%
Requirements:
Academic requirement: None. A cook or dim sum certificate is an asset.
Professional requirement: 23 months of experience in Cantonese cuisine (cooking experience).
